It is my strong belief that if we spend more time focusing on supporting and uplifting our colleagues, nurses would find greater satisfaction in the work that they do. Therefore I decided to create a monthly blog series: the Nursing Entrepreneur Spotlight – that focuses on exploring other nurse entrepreneurs and the fantastic work they’re doing.  Since I’ve launched my company The Nurse Speak, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many wonderful business savvy nurses. I’ve learned that there are so many amazing nurse entrepreneurs out there doing some really groundbreaking work, and this month’s featured guest is no different! So please let’s welcome this July’s featured nurse entrepreneur – Kati Kleber!

ABOUT KATI KLEBER, BSN, RN, CCRN

Kati graduated from nursing school in 2010.  She worked in a cardiac stepdown unit for 2 years before working in a neurosciences critical care unit for 4 years.  She obtained her critical care certification from the AACN in 2015, and has experience as a certified preceptor and charge nurse, with policy and procedure review, shared governance, and is a published author with the American Nurses Association.

Kati has published five books.  Becoming NurseyAdmit OneWhat’s NextAnatomy of a Super Nurse, and The Nurses Guide to Blogging.

She has been received the Nurse of the Year Award from the Charlotte Business Journal and was a Great 100 Nurses of North Carolina Recipient, both in 2015. Kati has been featured on the TODAY Show, CNN, Dr. Oz, US World News and Report, and many more.

Kati started FreshRN to help new graduate nurses in their transition into successful bedside nurses, by providing practical and concise information as well as encouragement and support. When Kati was a brand new nurse, she felt pretty lost and alone.  She convinced herself that everyone else was smarter, more prepared and even looked better doing it.  However, once she got to know other new grads, she realized they all felt the same – scared, ill-prepared, and overwhelmed.  Her mission is to grow new nurses into confident, comfortable and safe care providers. Kati’s goal is to decrease the amount of time it takes for the new graduate nurse to get to this point.

Kati has also joined up with Brittney Wilson of the Nerdy Nurse to create Health Media Academy. Their aim is to assist healthcare professionals (nurses, physicians, therapists, advanced practice providers, and more) and organizations in taking control of their image and expertise to improve healthcare.

By effectively harnessing the power of social media, blogging, and other methods of online influence, healthcare professionals have the ability to mold and shape the future of healthcare and impact real progress today. In addition to enacting positive change, Health Media Academy aims to promote wealth-building strategies and business-focus for healthcare influencers all while maintaining the dignity and integrity of their profession.

CONNECTING WITH KATI

I met Kati at the 2017 National Nurses in Business Association conference in St. Pete Beach FL. Kati was one of the many talented speakers and vendors at the conference, and I am very pleased that I got to meet her! During the conference, she was very approachable, knowledgeable and eager to offer to help aspiring nurse entrepreneurs.  Since the conference, Kati and I have kept in touch, supporting one another via social media. I am looking forward to many future collaborations with Kati, and I hope to see her again soon at this year’s NNBA conference in Las Vegas!

To make things more interesting and to give you a taste of what Kati Kleber is up to, you can check out her website at FreshRN.com, listen to this podcast episode where she was interviewed by Elizabeth Scala, and connect with Kati on Social Media via Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and Tumblr!
