It is my strong belief that if we spend more time focusing on supporting and uplifting our colleagues, nurses would find greater satisfaction in the work that they do. Therefore I decided to create a monthly blog series: the Nursing Entrepreneur Spotlight – that focuses on exploring other nurse entrepreneurs and the fantastic work they’re doing.  Since I’ve launched my company The Nurse Speak, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many wonderful business savvy nurses. I’ve learned that there are so many amazing nurse entrepreneurs out there doing some really groundbreaking work, and this month’s featured guest is no different! So please let’s welcome this June’s featured nurse entrepreneur – Santisha Walker!

ABOUT SANTISHA WALKER, RN, MSN, CWC

Santisha has a gift of empowering others to achieve their life goals. She uses her astonishing desire to witness others succeed in their endeavors by offering practical guidance and reliable resources.

After graduating from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) in 2005 with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration-Marketing and working in the Insurance Industry for 5 years, Santisha yearned to have a more profound impact on the health and personal lives of others, which led her to pursue a previous desire of becoming a nurse. She graduated with an Associates Degree in Nursing from Wake Technical Community College (WTCC) in 2013. Santisha worked as a cardiac nurse at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina and then transitioned into the neurology specialty at Raleigh Neurology Associates. She’s also experienced as a nurse in rehabilitation and skilled nursing specialties. Upon completing her Masters in Nursing Administration, Santisha accepted a position as Director of Patient Care Services for a home care agency.

Obtaining her Business and Nursing Degrees, as well as becoming a Certified Wellness Coach, has positioned Santisha to serve as Founder of Walker Group Health & Wellness, a boutique consulting company providing tailored health & wellness services, specializing in education. She takes pride in the ability to offer valuable educational resources to companies, groups, and organizations through Walker Group Health & Wellness’ passionate, licensed, qualified and experienced team of health & wellness professionals via presentations, seminars and workshops. Santisha also has a heart for the mental health community, and serves as Co-Founder of Temple Vitality Foundation (TVF), a 501(c)(3) organization that focuses on bringing awareness to mental illness and help transition this population to a state of independence through healthy living. Applying knowledge gained while structuring Walker Group Health & Wellness and creating her own successful brand The Nurse Brandnista Santisha serves as a coach for nurses desiring to move beyond the traditional realm of nursing to building a thriving brand! Whether nurses aspire to remain in the traditional clinical / bedside role and build a successful brand “on the side” for their product or service; or dream of fully operating a flourishing brand, Santisha catapults nurses into living out their heart’s desires while simultaneously making their own mark within the nursing profession. Due to Santisha’s adoration for true total wellness, and understanding the underlying stress, workload and learning curve many nurses experience when launching into the “enterprise” arena, she intentionally promotes a wellness lifestyle with her clients and incorporates balance living techniques for nurses.

SANTISHA’S PASSION FUELS HER DRIVE

Santisha’s enthusiasm for a balanced and thriving life has led to public speaking opportunities, television and radio appearances, national and international podcast features, and publication features. Santisha’s trusted experience and authentic passion for the livelihood of others has also opened the door to various platforms allowing the empowerment of girls and women from all walks of life to live balanced, healthy and well. Santisha believes in giving back, and serves as a Contributing Writer for the health section of a women’s entrepreneurial magazine, and is the Health & Wellness Instructor for an online women’s academy. With a new found love for sharing her experiences and motivating others through writing, Santisha has authored an inspirational book for nurses thrusting them into realizing their dream entitled,“Stethoscope and A DREAM: A Victorious Nurse Anthology“, she has written a personal guide offering balancing tools that have assisted along her journey entitled, “Your 30-Day Guide To Balanced Living While Building Your Nursing Brand“, as well as served as a contributing author to the anthology “Black Girls Hear”.

When Santisha is not coaching nurses, educating on health & wellness or promoting balanced living, she enjoys spending quality time with her best friend and husband of 10 years, traveling, meeting new people, spending time with close friends and her large family. Santisha also understands the importance of self-care and filling her own wellness tank; therefore, she adores spending time in prayer, meditation and listening to calming music.

CONNECTING WITH SANTISHA

I met Santisha at the 2017 National Nurses in Business Association conference in St. Pete Beach FL. Santisha was one of many outgoing and positive nurse entrepreneurs present, and I am very pleased that I got to meet her! During the conference, she was very approachable, knowledgeable and eager discuss various topics with myself and other aspiring nurse entrepreneurs.  Since the conference, Santisha and I have kept in touch, supporting and collaborating with one another and being all around cheerleaders for the work we are doing. I am looking forward to many future collaborations with Santisha, and I look forward to seeing her again at this year’s NNBA conference in Las Vegas!
