My name is Damion Jenkins, and I have a real passion for nursing education! I have been teaching nursing related courses for over six years, and have more than 20 years of leadership and mentoring experience. I have helped many health profession students, nursing students, new grad nurses, and even professional nurses master strategies for success! From facilitating the learning of eager students, to working with facility management in the delivery of nursing staff education, I take pride in helping my students and clients meet their individualized needs.
Before pursuing nursing, I’ve held many positions that gave me wonderful opportunities to train, lead, and teach those around me. For over 15 years, I specialized in customer service and had the pleasure of teaching countless individuals a variety of strategies that improved their ability to deliver the best customer service possible. Fortunately for my clients, colleagues and patients alike, I took a lot of what I learned in my previous career and I apply it to my daily nursing practice and education consultation services, thus creating the delivery of nursing excellence!
“I take pride in helping my students and clients
meet their individualized needs.”
I graduated from an associate degree nursing program in spring of 2010, and just six months out of school I knew that I wanted to pursue earning a Master’s Degree specializing in Nursing Education. I completed my MSN program in spring of 2014 with a 4.0 GPA, and I became an active member of several nursing organizations including: Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, Golden Key International Honour Society, The American Nurses Association (ANA), The National League for Nursing (NLN), and the Maryland Nurses Association (MNA). Most recently, I have become a member of the National Nurses in Business Association (NNBA).
From starting out as a new grad staff nurse in a long-term care facility, to serving as an adjunct faculty professor and clinical instructor for a local community college, I have gained many wonderful experiences where I have worked diligently with educators, administrators, and nurses from all levels of experience to create discussion that will promote positive change within our ever changing arena of nursing practice. Because I believe that nursing is essential to the success of our entire health care system, our voices and dedication to enhancing the profession are needed more than ever to create the positive changes necessary to improve the delivery of healthcare in our great nation.
“I believe that nursing is essential to the success of
our entire health care system…”
Therefore, in 2015, I developed a nursing blog to share experiences, provide helpful advice, and create dialogue that will help in reaching my goals of advancing the nursing profession. Within it’s first year, the Nurse Speak Blog reached an international audience, and my work was being recognized as a valuable contribution and resource for nursing by The American Journal of Nursing, and NSW Nurses and Midwives Association. With the blog gaining more attention over these past two years, I have partnered with several continuing education companies to author nursing education content, and blog articles, while also providing private tutoring services for students – thus The Nurse Speak, LLC. was born.
The Nurse Speak Blog will continue to be a place for free nursing discussion, tips, and strategies for success, where I invite students, professionals, and advocates of the nursing profession to join in on the collaboration towards enhancing the nursing profession!
So welcome to all, and let’s continue the process of enhancing the nursing profession – together!
